    World Mosquito Day 2021

We commemorate World Mosquito Day every year on August 20.

Mosquitoes seem to be the most dangerous animals on the planet. Although it is very small, its impact on human health is huge. This is a day to let the whole world pay attention to the devastating impact this little creature can have.

The history behind a day to honor the mosquito is when a British doctor, Sir Ronald Ross, discovered the role of Anopheles female mosquitoes in the transmission of malaria parasites in humans on 20 August 1897.

To read the whole story of Sir Ross’ work and his life, please visit the CDC article Ross and the Discovery that Mosquitoes Transmit Malaria Parasites.

Have a great World Mosquito Day!
