    Remembering Dr Michael Bangs

It is with deep shock that we learnt of the passing of Dr Michael Bangs. Michael was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer in late 2020 which he quietly and bravely battled for several months. He returned to the United States to be with his family, where he recently contracted Covid-19, succumbing to this disease on March 9th. Michael will be remembered as a highly professional and competent medical entomologist, respected by all those who knew him for his depth and broad scope of knowledge. More than his professional abilities and contributions, he is remembered for his personality, a humble man but wonderful conversationalist who could talk on a wide range of subjects with great enthusiasm injected with jokes and wit. He was open, friendly and warm, character traits that endeared him to all who knew him. Our vector community is poorer with the passing of this admirable and talented man. Our thoughts and condolences go to his family. We will remember you well Michael, always with great respect.
