    The University of Zambia School of Public Health invites interested candidates to apply for a TDR Postgraduate Scholarship which will be offered for the academic year commencing September 2021 for the following two-year full-time postgraduate programmes:

    1. Master of Science, Epidemiology
    2. Master of Public Health, Health Promotion and Education.
    3. Master of Public Health, Health Policy and Management

    The focus is on implementation research on infectious diseases of poverty, including the neglected tropical diseases, malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/TB co-infection and COVID-19. Following the selection process, scholarship recipients are expected to enroll in the Programmes in October 2021. The programmes provide on-campus and on-line teaching, with the scholarship recipients conducting a thesis project in their home countries. However, depending on regulations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the course may be adjusted, for example with entirely on-line delivery. Scholarship recipients will be enrolled as postgraduate students, and their careers will be tracked through the TDR Global alumni and stakeholder platform, which monitors the impact of the programmes, facilitates networking and provides opportunities to increase visibility for students and alumni.

    ELIGIBILITY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP

    • Be resident in and nationals of a low- or middle-income country (as defined by the World Bank) in the WHO African Region
    • Be 35 years old or younger
    • Be interested in developing a career in implementation research on infectious diseases of poverty
    • Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from any recognized university
    • Meet the standard University of Zambia requirements for graduate students
    • Be proficient in English
    • Provide evidence of the ability to obtain study leave from their employer (if applicable) before commencement of programme.

    THE SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE

    • Return economy airfare between the home country of the candidate and Zambia
    • Tuition fees and basic medical and accident insurance
    • Monthly stipend to cover meals and accommodation for one person
    • Support for research project/thesis expenses, including travel during data collection in home country
    • English course for non-English speaking candidates

    HOW TO APPLY

    • Motivation letter expressing interest for the fellowship
    • Letter of recommendation from a reputable professional referee
    • Letter of recommendation from an academic referee
    • Brief statement of not more than 200 words on your proposed study and research
